Rhinoplasty Patient 53**
About This Patient
This 18 year old asked Dr. Parker to reduce her “dorsal hump” and to correct her nasal tip from drooping with smiling. She was happy with the tip of her nose. Dr. Parker performed a closed rhinoplasty and did the following:
1. Shaved down the mildly prominent nasal bones and cartilage just beneath them.
2. Performed osteotomies and infractures of the nasal bones to narrow them appropriately.
3. Removed the depressor septi nasi muscles connecting the base of the nose to the upper lip which pulled her nose downward with smiling. Removing these muscles eliminated the patient’s nose drooping with smiling.
The patient recovered quickly afterwards. She is very happy with the improved but natural appearance of her nose.
