About This Patient

This 18 year old came to Dr. Parker requesting improvement in the appearance of her nose. She was bothered by the prominence of her nasal bones and the way her nose drooped significantly when she smiled. The patient was happy with the tip of her nose. Dr. Parker performed a closed rhinoplasty and did the following:

1. Shaved down the mildly prominent nasal bones and cartilage just beneath them.
2. Performed osteotomies and infractures of the nasal bones to narrow them appropriately.
3. Removed the depressor septi nasi muscles connecting the base of the nose to the upper lip which pulled her nose downward with smiling. Removing these muscles eliminated the problem of the patient’s nose drooping with smiling.

The patient had a smooth recovery. She loves the natural look of her nose and has received many favorable comments from family and friends.
