About This Patient

This 59 year old nurse, referred to Dr. Parker by another plastic surgeon, requested removal and replacement of her breast implants. The patient had undergone subglandular silicone breast augmentation by another plastic surgeon in 1983. She developed a progressive capsular contracture in the right breast in recent years, less so on the left side. An MRI indicated the silicone implants to be intact without leakage. The patient wished to stay the same size as her original augmentation. At surgery, Dr. Parker removed both breast capsules and silicone implants from their subglandular location through the patient’s existing inframammary incision. He weighed the implants and capsules removed, then replaced them with similar sized silicone implant–225 cc on the right side and 250 cc on the left. These were placed in a partial submuscular location. The patient recovered without any pain or bruising postoperatively. She is very happy with the natural look and feel of her breasts.
