Otoplasty Patient 9**
About This Patient
This 11 year old, just starting middle school, presented to Dr. Parker with increasing concerns and sensitivity about her prominent ears. Dr. Parker discussed with her and her parents the fact that she needed a more defined antihelical fold. This would create a natural curvature of the ear and bring it back closer to the scalp. He then discussed the details of otoplasty to surgically create this antihelical fold so that her ears would look natural and not “operated upon”. Several weeks later, the patient underwent the otoplasty procedure by Dr. Parker. He created a natural looking antihelical fold with an incision hidden behind each ear. The patient recovered without any pain and quickly after the surgery. She and her parents are delighted with the markedly improved contour and appearance of her ears. The patient is eagerly looking forward to the start of middle school.
