Otoplasty Patient 10**
About This Patient
This 7 year old was referred to Dr. Parker by another patient. Her mother noticed the prominence of her daughter’s ears early on but said nothing to her. Recently, some classmates have made comments to the patient upsetting her and prompting her visit to Dr. Parker. At the initial consultation, Dr. Parker explained the anatomical reasons for the ears’ prominence. He also explained how this could be corrected. At surgery, Dr. Parker made inconspicuous incisions in the crease behind the patient’s ears which allowed him to properly reshape the cartilage and improve the appearance of the ears. Following surgery, the patient and her mother were very happy with the ease of recovery. Both are extremely happy with the improved and normal contour of the patient’s ears. All comments from classmates have stopped and the patient seems much more outgoing than before the surgery.
