About This Patient

This 50 year old was bothered by the large size and shape of his nose as well as obstructed breathing on the left side. Dr. Parker performed an open rhinoplasty. He reduced the bony cartilaginous dorsal hump and reshaped the wide, over projecting asymmetric nasal tip with septal cartilage grafts. Additionally, he improved the patient’s obstructed breathing by removing the deviated portion of the cartilaginous septum and reduced the size of the left inferior turbinate. Postoperatively, the patient recovered very quickly. He was happy with the appearance of his nose and markedly improved breathing. He underwent a minor secondary procedure 1 1/2 years later to rasp some callus, or scar tissue, which had built up on the dorsum and insertion of a stitch in the nasal tip area to improve its shape even further.
