About This Patient

This 43-year-old was referred to Dr. Parker by a friend who is also a patient. This patient explained her breasts deflated and sagged after childbirth. She wanted them fuller and perkier. The patient is 5’1″ tall, weighs 107 pounds, and wears a 34 A cup. Dr. Parker explained her low nipple position on the breast is categorized as Grade 2 Ptosis. The treatment of sagging to this extent is usually a periareolar augmentation mastopexy, that is, inserting a breast implant and lifting the areola higher on the breast. The patient said she wanted to avoid a scar around the areola and preferred implants be inserted through an inframammary incision. Dr. Parker related his experience with an alternative procedure. Using an inframammary incision, the breast tissue can be lifted off the underlying pectoralis major muscle, then the implant inserted. In doing so, the patient will achieve a mild breast lift (not to the same extent as a periareolar mastopexy), avoiding a scar around the areola. This is called a Dual Plane 2 breast augmentation and the patient opted for this approach. During her Sizing Session, the patient selected 300 cc silicone implants. Using inframammary incisions, Dr. Parker then performed the procedure exactly as described. The patient enjoyed a quick recovery afterward. She is very happy with the natural look and soft feel of her breasts; she is glad that she and Dr. Parker chose the route they did.
